DDA - Disability Discrimination Act

Last edited 14 December 2011

The Disability Discrimination Act, most of which became effective in 1993, is a piece of Commonwealth legislation aimed at providing disabled Australians with, among other things, equal opportunity in employment through reasonable access to commercial and public facilities. Essentially, the act defines disability as a physical or mental impairment that substantially defines one or more of the major life activities of an individual.
