The NCC 2022 was published on 1 October 2022, via NCC online, and is now in force. States and territories adopted the NCC 2022 on 1 May 2023. Transition arrangements apply for some requirements, see here for more information.

A termite management system is a requirement under the National Construction Code (NCC) Volume Two in locations ‘where subterranean termites are known to present a potential risk of attack’ and a primary building element (as defined in the NCC) is considered susceptible to termite attack (ABCB 2022). Establish whether your building is in a termite risk area by contacting the relevant authority. NCC Volume 1 has similar measures. The NCC Volume One and Two and Housing Provisions reference Australian Standards AS 3660 Part 1 and Part 3.

Note - there are state and territory variations to this requirement. Check your relevant state/territory Building Acts and Regulations for more information.
