The Copyright Amendment (Moral Rights) Act 2000 expressly protects moral rights instead of economic interests. These rights are personal to the authors of a work, designed to protect the author's honour and reputation. These rights cannot be assigned or licensed. Moral rights are additional to the economic rights already provided for in the Copyright Act 1968. Only individuals, not corporate bodies, have moral rights.
