Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) – its use in construction

PVC pipesThis note examines the risks and benefits of using polyvinyl chloride, or PVC, in construction. It looks at environmental impacts of its use and disposal, and the desirability and practicality of its substitution.

This note was originally published in May 1997, when it comprised two notes, PRO 13 and PRO 14. These notes were reviewed by John Gelder in May 2002. The two notes were subsequently revised and merged by Paul Downton in March 2012.
