The impact of veranda on a single-sided, naturally ventilated building

Single-sided ventilation is the poor cousin of cross-ventilation. Many ratings schemes do not even recognise the benefits of single-sided ventilation strategies. But rising building costs and land scarcity mean that single-sided, naturally ventilated buildings are here to stay. In this paper, the authors demonstrate how the number, size and configuration of windows and the depth of veranda significantly impact upon indoor air velocity and age of air in a single-sided building.
