The National Construction Code (NCC) is written and maintained by the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) on behalf of the Australian and State and Territory governments. It is a performance-based code for building and plumbing and drainage systems, comprising:
- NCC Volume One – Building Code of Australia for Class 2 to 9 buildings
- NCC Volume Two – Building Code of Australia for Class 1 and Class 10 buildings
- NCC Volume Three – Plumbing Code of Australia
The NCC references ABCB, Australian and other standards as referenced documents. The ABCB Housing Provisions Standard is referenced in NCC Volume Two and contains most of the DTS Provisions for Class 1 and 10 buildings. This change was introduced with NCC 2022. For more information about this change, continue reading this note.
The NCC is freely available online from the ABCB website. It is also available for purchase in print copy or electronic formats from commercial providers.
