Situated on the site of the former Marrickville Hospital in Sydney, NSW, the Marrickville Library and pavilion reuses an important piece of the suburb’s history to create a place for Marrickville’s diverse community to meet, work, learn and play.

This case study examines BVN's design of the Marrickville Library and pavilion, highlighting its integrated sustainable features such as natural light, solar shading, natural/mixed-mode ventilation, sustainably sourced timber and recycled bricks. Key themes of the project include adaptive reuse, community engagement, cultural preservation, and environmental sustainability.
