Important — Victorian members: A new Victorian Architects Code of Professional Conduct took effect in April 2026, issued by the Architects Registration Board of Victoria (ARBV). It brings new requirements for client architect agreements and specific steps you will need to take before signing, such as providing a copy of the ARBV's client Checklist.
Regulations under the Architects Act 1991 (Vic) incorporate the Victorian Architects Code of Professional Conduct (the Code) that sets out professional standards obligations for all Victorian architects (See Architects Regulations 2015 (Vic), Schedule 1).
The Code sets out the standard of professional conduct and practice for architects registered in Victoria. The Architects Registration Board of Victoria (ARBV) enforces this Code under the Architects Act 1991 and prepares and publishes guidelines on professional conduct and practice under Regulation 7 of the Architects Regulations 2015. Guidelines are published on the ARBV website.
